Community Information Center (American Corner), Birgunj, Nepal is an informative and educational initiative of BIJAM and Birgunj Jaycees aided by American library, Kathmandu, Nepal to meet the growing intellectual needs of the society. After months rigorous preparation to encompass the overall needs of a public library CIC was formally opened to public on 25th September 2008.  

SERVICES:

Primarily, CIC serves as a library to provide wealth of intellectual resources to the students, learners, scholars, researchers and the general public. The collection of wide array of books and ample space allows one to settle in a peaceful environment and enhance the learning. Besides, we offer internet browsing and photocopy services for educational and research purposes only at very nominal cost. We are open round the week thus ensuring access to the visitors of all professions and walks of life.  

Visitors and interested organizations can further take advantage of high speed internet, computers, LCD projector, printer, photocopy, scanner, abiding by the rules of CIC.  We also hold video & documentary shows on pertinent issues that are in interest of general public. CIC is proud of its practice of regularly organizing talk programs from experts and foreign diplomats.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

Interested candidates can easily get the CIC membership to gain full access of library resources. To obtain membership one should submit 

• 2 auto size recent photographs
• proof of identity
• completed application form available at CIC  

Annual membership fee is as listed below 

• NRs. 200 for students
• NRs. 500 for General public
• NRs. 3000 for Institutions
• NRs. 5000 for lifetime membership
• There are no fees for guest membership. Guest membership is offered to the organizational/insti tutional heads as per discretion of CIC management.  

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS: 

• For students and the general public, who take our membership will get discounts in charges for photocopy, internet browsing and CD’s and books of TOEFL, GRE and
• GMAT.
• Institutional members will get 10 membership cards for free and  120 hours of
• High speed internet free. 
• Lifetime members and guest members are also entitled to the discounts in various charges of services offered by CIC.
