Introduction

Sub-regional Transport Facilitation Project has a social safeguard program that integrates the road construction/upgrading including ICD development with programs to help mitigate the adverse consequences of road construction in the areas of HIV and AIDS, general health, road safety and human trafficking issues including the management of project-induced social and resettlement impacts, complying with the LA Act 2034 and ADB policy on Involuntary Resettlement (1995), Handbook on Resettlement: A Guide to good Practice (1998), Policy on Indigenous Peoples (1999) and other social safeguard policies designed to protected the affected person and communities.

According to workplan of May 2008, Student Awareness Forum (BIJAM) has singed MoU in May 2008 with Sumec – Sharma JV for operating of Drop in Center at construction site and launched program in field as well as conducted community assessment, hired DIC staff.
