Introduction

BIJAM has been implementing "Volunteer Mobilization Program among Six   partner organization” since 1st July 2009, partnering with VSO Nepal. Its working areas are Parsa & Makwanpur districts. In order to aware & sensitize the community and provide the ownership for the matter of HIV & AIDS to the community itself, BIJAM has designed a strategic program targeting to the 6 different Organizations by operating various activities through the worth of mobilizing local Volunteer, recruited from their respective Organization by age d in between 20-30. 

This strategic plan of this campaign is to place & mobilize one volunteer in each organization to strengthen their organizational capacity.

 

The partners of this project comprise.  

  • Federation of Journalist in Parsa district, 
  • Pariwartan Nepal a NGO representing from recovering group, 
  • Rickshaw Union in Parsa district, 
  • Makwanpur Mahila Samuha, a NGO representing by female PLHA group in Makwanpur district, 
  • Birgunj Chamber of Commerce & Industry
  • Non-governmental Organization Coordination Committee, Parsa. 

Specifically this Program aims to empower the youths by transferring adequate skill and knowledge for the development of respective organization as well as the community. The philosophy believes that the communities have its own potentials and throughout this intervention youths can be trained & mobilized as resource of transformation. It enhances the community integration process by using community potentiality, effort and the involvement of youths as sources of dynamic & positive change.  The project has planned that community based services, social and economic conditions of the youth and their communities will be improved gradually by organizing, empowering, facilitating, and supporting youth volunteer. Through youth volunteer activities, local resources have been planned to utilize in more effective and economic manner.      

Objectives of this Program

  • To integrate and form a group of the local volunteers of the community.
  • To provide different types of skill based training and orientation on the subject matter.
  • To aware them about the global issue of HIV and AIDS so that they can aware their community.
  • To enable the youth power for providing awareness and sensitize their community and their organization in the matters of HIV and AIDS.
  • To capacitate them in providing advocacy in the HIV and AIDS related community problem.
  • To perform community service activities and social mass events as per the situation.
  • To develop some IEC materials and distribute it to the community.
