BIJAM has been implementing "Harm Reduction Program among
IDUs through Peer based Outreach intervention” since August 2002, now partnering
with Save the Children Nepal in Bara, Parsa & Makwanpur under SSF-Global Fund
Round 10.
The purpose of Harm Reduction Program is to minimize the incidence of HIV
infection and other blood borne diseases among IDUs in the project area. In
order to reduce the rate of sharing needle-syringe, proper sterilization of
injecting equipment and health maintenance service delivery, BIJAM has covered
approximately 80 km of major transport routes of the center cluster i.e. Cross
Border to Nijgadh and Hetauda. Currently BIJAM is working with 1355 IDUs at
Parsa, 802 at Bara & 545 at Makawanpur.
